Saturday Night at the Livery welcomes Devaki Ananda Murch, presenting: The Mirror of Return - Operation Babylift Then and Now.

For adoptees brought out of a conflict as children, there is no baby book, no hospital bracelet. For Devaki Murch, her history and origin were subject to the chaos of the Vietnam War. She was evacuated on the first airlift of Operation Babylift. The C-5A evacuating the children crashed shortly after takeoff. She was one of the 176 survivors of the 314 on board.
Her origin story was shaped by the mainstream media narrative told through news, nightly specials, and documentaries. In 2024, she was given stewardship of the remaining records held by Friends For All Children, the agency that placed her with her family in Hawaii.  She quit her job as a trade show director to develop this project, tracing the children’s journey from Vietnam to their final destinations through transportation records. She has since connected over 12 adoptees with their records and several with their birth families.
